Why we started
In Ghana, 1 in 10 girls miss school during their period due to lack of access to sanitary pads. Many resort to using unsafe alternatives like rags, tissue paper, or even leaves — leading to infections and health complications. Some girls even trade sex for access to sanitary pads.
The stigma around periods also prevents open conversation, leaving many young girls without proper menstrual education. The Flow Project was created to change this.
